Whole Body Cryotherapy With the Head Inside, on Breathable Air

Open head chambers keep the client's head above the cold, so the head and neck are never treated. The Cryonick CryoStar Antarctica Nitrogen Whole Body Cryotherapy Chamber puts the whole body inside, head and neck included. Nitrogen chills the air from outside the treatment space through a heat exchanger, so no nitrogen vapor reaches your client. They breathe normally the entire session at -120°C to -140°C (-184°F to -220°F).

Arrives in 3 modules. The chamber, the door and the machinery room are assembled on site following Cryonick's manual, and a qualified electrician connects the power.

Plan the room first. Cryonick requires an oxygen level sensor in the treatment room and in any room where nitrogen is stored, installed before the chamber. Keep the room below 22°C (72°F) and below 40% humidity.

Delivery. Ships by freight. In stock units typically ship within 5 to 9 business days. Special orders typically take 6 to 8 weeks to build before shipping.

Financing available. Ask us about financing this chamber through our financing partner.

How Does the Cryonick CryoStar Antarctica Nitrogen Whole Body Cryotherapy Chamber Work

Whole body cryotherapy exposes the body to very cold, dry air for a short session. Cryonick's manual sets each session at 2 to 3 minutes.

In this chamber, liquid nitrogen never touches the client or the air they breathe. It chills a heat exchanger, and powerful fans circulate the cold air evenly around the body. Because the nitrogen cools that exchanger directly, the chamber precools quickly. The 10.1 inch touch panel runs 3 automatic programs and 1 manual program, with an emergency stop button beside it. A microphone lets the operator guide the client through the session.

What Is a Walk In Cryotherapy Chamber With Breathable Air

A walk in cryotherapy chamber is a fully enclosed cold cabin that the client steps into with their whole body, head included. In a nitrogen model like the Cryonick CryoStar Antarctica Nitrogen Whole Body Cryotherapy Chamber, the gas stays sealed in the cooling system and the cabin air stays 100% breathable. An open head chamber such as the Cryonick CryoStar Nitrogen Whole Body Cryotherapy Chamber works differently: the head stays above the rim while nitrogen vapor cools the cabin around the body. The tradeoff is temperature. Keeping the air breathable limits this chamber to -140°C (-220°F), while the open head chamber reaches -170°C (-274°F). Weighing your options? Read our guide to electric vs nitrogen cryotherapy chambers.

What Results Can You Actually Expect

Whole body cryotherapy is used for sports recovery, rehabilitation, fitness and wellness. Because the head and neck sit inside the cold zone, the whole body gets the same session. Built in speakers play relaxing music, projection lights set the mood, and the glass door and roof keep the cabin feeling open.

Cryotherapy is offered by sports physical therapy, chiropractic, athletic training and wellness providers. Compare this chamber with our other whole body cryotherapy chambers. Individual results vary, and this chamber is not meant to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition.

Safety Information

The indirect cooling design keeps liquid nitrogen away from the client, which helps avoid injuries from contact with it.

One client at a time. The operator stays outside, runs the session and can stop it at any moment with the emergency stop. The client can push the door open and step out whenever they want. Clients must stand during the session; crouching or sitting inside is not allowed.

Before each session, the client's skin must be fully dry and all jewelry removed. Cryonick recommends knee socks or thin leggings, clogs or warm slippers, cotton shorts and a crop top, a headband, wool or cotton gloves, and a mask over the nose and mouth.

Cryonick lists heart conditions, respiratory conditions, open wounds and pregnancy as reasons not to use the chamber. Consult a healthcare provider before use if you have a medical condition or are taking medication.

Power must be connected by a qualified electrician to a grounded outlet with residual current protection rated 30 mA or less. This equipment is for sports recovery, rehabilitation, fitness and wellness only, and is not an FDA approved medical device. For adults 18 and older.

FAQ

What is the Cryonick CryoStar Antarctica Nitrogen Whole Body Cryotherapy Chamber?
A walk in cryotherapy chamber from Cryonick that treats the whole body, head and neck included, using cold air chilled by nitrogen that never enters the cabin.

Is this the same as the Cryonick CryoStar Nitrogen Whole Body Cryotherapy Chamber?
No. The Cryonick CryoStar Nitrogen Whole Body Cryotherapy Chamber is an open head chamber: the head stays above the rim and it reaches -170°C (-274°F). This chamber encloses the head too, so it runs at -120°C to -140°C (-184°F to -220°F).

Is this the same as the Cryonick CryoStar Antarctica Electric Whole Body Cryotherapy Chamber?
No. Both are Antarctica walk in chambers that enclose the head. This one chills its air with nitrogen through a heat exchanger and needs a nitrogen supply. The Cryonick CryoStar Antarctica Electric Whole Body Cryotherapy Chamber is fully electric, with one compressor on the Simple and two on the Grand, and uses no nitrogen. It reaches -80°C (-112°F) on the Simple and -110°C (-166°F) on the Grand.

How cold does it get?
Programs run from -120°C down to -140°C (-184°F to -220°F).

Why doesn't it get as cold as an open head chamber?
With the head inside, the air must stay safe to breathe the whole time. That caps how cold the cabin can run, in exchange for full body coverage.

How long is a session?
Cryonick's manual sets sessions at 2 to 3 minutes. For what a session feels like, see cryotherapy chamber sessions explained.

How much nitrogen does a session use?
4 to 7 kg (8.8 to 15.4 lb), including precooling. That is more than open head chambers use, because cooling a full walk in cabin of breathable air takes more gas.

Is the air safe to breathe?
Yes, that is the point of the design. The nitrogen stays sealed in the cooling system, so your client breathes normally throughout.

Does it have music and lighting?
Yes. Built in speakers play relaxing music during the session, and projection lights create a calm atmosphere inside the cabin.

How long does it take to get ready?
The prefreezing program cools the chamber for 10 minutes before the first session of the day.

How many people can use it at once?
One. Cryonick's manual allows a single client inside per session, with the operator outside running it.

What should clients wear?
Warm layers on the hands and feet (gloves, knee socks or leggings, and clogs or slippers), cotton shorts and a crop top, a headband, and a mask covering the nose and mouth. Skin must be dry and jewelry off.

How can operators keep nitrogen use down?
Keep the door closed between sessions and the gap short. Cryonick suggests 1 to 2 minutes between clients. After about 20 minutes idle, the chamber uses as much nitrogen as a full cool down. Keeping the nitrogen tank close with a short supply hose also helps.

What does the room need?
Oxygen level sensors (one for the treatment room and one for each nitrogen storage room) in place before installation, room air under 22°C (72°F), and humidity under 40%. A dehumidifier helps hold the humidity down.

What power does it need?
A US 110V 60Hz supply at 1.5 kW, up to 20A, connected by a qualified electrician.

How much space does it need?
It measures 1870 mm (73 in) long, 1170 mm (46 in) wide and 2292 mm (90 in) tall.

How is it installed?
It arrives in 3 modules (chamber, door and machinery room) that are assembled on site following Cryonick's manual. Installation is not included with delivery. Cryonick's technical support team offers installation, and we can connect you with them.

How do you clean it?
Run the full drying program after use, and whenever the chamber sits idle for more than an hour. It takes up to 2 hours with the door open. Cryonick recommends disinfecting the chamber and air ducts every three months.

Is it FDA approved?
No. It is designed for sports recovery, rehabilitation, fitness and wellness, and is not an FDA approved medical device.

Should I choose an electric or nitrogen cryotherapy chamber?
It depends on your facility. Our guide to electric vs nitrogen cryotherapy chambers walks through the differences, and our cryotherapy chambers for sale guide helps you compare models.

What payment options are available?
We offer several payment methods, including PayPal and Shop Pay. Both PayPal and Shop Pay offer pay-over-time options, availability and terms depend on the customer's account and eligibility. Financing is also available on this item through our financing partner. Contact us for details.
